| Zusammenfassung: | A method is disclosed for determining an acceptable oil level in the reservoir (12) of an operating engine (10) comprising measuring the temperature of a suitably located electrical resistance temperature measuring device (40, 28) at the time of engine startup, heating the device (40, 28) with an electrical current for a period of about 10 second following engine startup, again measuring the temperature of the heated device (40, 28), determining the temperature increase and comparing said increase with historical data indicative of whether the device (40, 28) has been situated in engine oil or in air above the oil level in the reservoir (12). |
