Derivatives of benzylidene cyclohexanone, benzylidene cyclopentanone, and benzylidene acetone and their synthesis

The invention deals with benzilidine derivatives having the general formula I wherein R , R and R each represent hydrogen or electron withdrawing, donating or steric groups, such as alkyl, alkoxy, dialkylamino, trifluoromethyl, hydroxy or chloro and R and R each represent hydrogen, or R and R taken together form a -(CH2)-,-(CH2)2- or -(CH2)3-group. Methyl, ethyl methoxy groups or halogen are preferred. The novel benzilidine cyclohexanon, benzilidine cyclopentanon and benzilidine aceton derivatives show anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities that enable them to be used for drugs.
