Zusammenfassung: | The method involves bringing compressive stresses into the surface layer of these parts by mechanical action. These stresses are brought about by shot-peening of the layer concerned. Specimen rods made from different materials and having a length of 40 mm and a diameter of 2.5 mm are shot-pinned with glass balls having a grain size of between 420 mu m and 590 mu m. The spray pressure is in the order of 0.7 MPa when the jet is at a distance of 35 mm from the specimen and last for 45 seconds. The specimen rotates once per second about its axis. |
