Attachment fingers for airbag module cover
A cover (12) for an airbag module (14) is connected to opposed sidewalls (24, 26) of a housing (10) by means of resilient attachment fingers (70, 72, 74, 76). Each finger extends from a bottom surface of the cover adjacent one of its side edges (80, 82) and has a first segment (84, 85, 100, 101), a...

Zusammenfassung: | A cover (12) for an airbag module (14) is connected to opposed sidewalls (24, 26) of a housing (10) by means of resilient attachment fingers (70, 72, 74, 76). Each finger extends from a bottom surface of the cover adjacent one of its side edges (80, 82) and has a first segment (84, 85, 100, 101), a transverse section (87, 88, 103, 104) extending away from the adjacent edge, a second downwardly extending segment (90, 91, 106, 107) and a lowermost hook (93, 94, 109, 110). The transverse section of each finger extends through a primary slot (48, 50, 52, 54) defined by one sidewall and each hook engages a distal lower edge (42, 46) of a downwardly directed apron portion (40, 44) of one sidewall in which the primary slots are formed or secondary slots formed in the sidewalls below the primary slots. The cover is openable by the rupture of tear seams (115, 116) defined either at the junction between some of the fingers and a lid portion (68) of the cover or by a tear seam defined by the lid portion itself. |
