Zusammenfassung:	The apparatus includes a feed device which delivers the coating material or the painting liquid (5) to a substrate (2). The liquid which emanates from the substrate carrier is delivered to a first collection container (27) connected to at least one filter (28). The liquid passes from the first container to a second collection container (31), and back to the first container, either directly or indirectly via a pump (29). A vacuum can be set up in the liquid circuit between a first outflow line (33) of the first container and a second container and the pump.
