Zusammenfassung:	A process for the production of polyaspartic acid and/or polyaspartic acid imides from (a) maleic acid anhydride, maleic acid, fumaric acid and/or malic acid and (b) ammonia and/or primary or secondary amines in the molar ratio (a):(B) of 1:0.1 to 1:3, possibly in the presence of cocondensable compounds, in which the components (a) and (b) are brought into mutual contact at temperatures of over 100 DEG C, thermally condensed and the polycondensates possibly hydrolised thereafter.
