Information retrieval device and method

A form analysis unit receives data representative of a selected form with a selection indications added to a blank form through facsimile transfer or image read, and analyzes the data to create required data for retrieval. A retrieval unit starts retrieval from a retrieval starting position designated by the required data for retrieval thereby to access one or plural information objects. A form creation unit creates a new blank form on the basis of the one or plural information objects to be supplied to a user. Using the one or plural new blank forms, the user instructs to continue retrieval for more detailed levels, thereby acquiring a desired document.
