Zusammenfassung: | A calender for finishing both sides of a paper web, and esp. for making gravure-printable papers, has a stack of rolls which can be loaded from one end. The stack includes hard and soft rolls, the uppermost and lowest rolls being hard rolls. Working nips are created between adjacent rolls. The calender is divided into two similar roll stacks (3,4) which each have five rolls (5-9,10-14), and for at least one of the working nips (15-22), the nip length gives a dwell time of at least 0.1 ms, the temperature of one of the nip rolls is at least 100 degrees C, and the loading of the rolls yields a nip pressure of ≤ 42 N/mm . |
