Thermally bonded memory card holder

A memory card holder (10) in which the contained memory card (20) may include along an edge thereof means (22) for electrical connection to an interfacing connector. The holder (10) comprises a dielectric, peripheral frame member (30,34) having a shoulder for receiving the memory card (20) and a first and second metal cover members (14,16) arranged to be placed over the frame member. The cover members (14,16) are positioned to interfit to provide structural integrity to and shielding for the memory card (20) The first cover member (16) has an inner planar surface in close proximity to the memory card (20) and that the surface includes a torsion resistant, strengthening member (21) bonded thereto, preferably a thin film of a thermally activated polyester polymer. In a preferred embodiment, the film is about 4.0 mils in thickness, and is bonded to the cover member by the application of heat and pressure, typically for a time of about 10 seconds at 300 DEG F.
