A process for recovering an N,O-dialkylhydroxycarbamic acid ester of formula (III) wherein R is a hydrocarbon group, and R is lower alkyl, said process comprising azeotropically distilling the N,O-dialkylhydroxycarbamic acid ester of formula (III) with water.
