Deposition of a hyperbolic lens on the end face of an optical fibre

Zusammenfassung: | The lens (20) is hyperbolic in shape and has an elliptical base. It is formed at the end of an elliptical optical fibre cable (10). The lens focusses light onto a transducer placed opposite the lens. The lens is formed by cutting a fibre optic cable, forming a straight cut, and pulling a second cable under an electric field to form a point. The point is then applied to the straight cut, to pull out a crystal under an electrical field. As the cable is elliptical, the base is also elliptical and a hyperbolic shape is produced.
