Zusammenfassung:	Prepn. of tert.butyl alcohol from a charge stock soln. contg. 5-30 wt.% tert. butyl hydroperoxide (I) comprises bringing the charge stock into continuous contact a pelleted hydroperoxide decomposition catalyst (II) in a reaction zone in a liq. phase with agitation. The hydroperoxide conversion conditions include a temp. of 25-250 (40-150)[deg]C, a space velocity of 0.5-2 (0.5-1) vol. of charge stock/vol. catalyst/hour and a pressure of 0-1,000 (about 0) psig, to convert the (I) to decomposition prods, principally tert.butyl alcohol (III); and recovering (III). The charge stock solvent is a mixt. of 50-80 wt. % isobutane and 50-20 wt. % (III); and (II) is an Al2O3-supported Pd/Au catalyst.
