Machine and process of applying a sanitary stamp on an animal

The invention relates to a machine designed to apply stamps to the skin of a slaughtered animal (2) suspended from a conveyor (3). The machine is in the form of a framework including a supporting structure (4) supporting a gripping and stamping chassis (5) which can be moved by a driving member (6) in a substantially horizontal direction (f) in order to extend outside the plane of extension (P) of the supporting structure (4), the chassis (5) including: - a bearing and centring structure (14) developing substantially in a vertical plane over most of the length of the animal and intended to be engaged between the two half-carcasses of the animal, - at least one pair of presser arms (18) made to come together and move apart relative to the bearing and centring structure (14) and intended to come into contact with the half-carcasses of the animal in order to provide, in combination with the structure (14), immobilisation of the animal, - and at least one pair of stamping arms (22).
