Zusammenfassung:Process for the preparation of 3-(2'-acyloxyethyl)-dihydro-2(3H)furanones of the general formula I in which R denotes C1- to C12-alkyl, C5- to C8-cycloalkyl, aryl C7- to C12-aralkyl or C7- to C12-alkylaryl, by reacting 3-(2'-oxyethyl)-dihydro-2(3H)furanones of the general formula II in which R denotes C1- to C12-alkyl, C5- to C8-cycloalkyl, aryl, C7- to C12-aralkyl or C7- to C12-alkylaryl, with carboxylic acids, carboxylic anhydrides and/or carbonyl halides in the presence of acidic catalysts at temperatures from 50 to 250 DEG C and pressures from 0.1 to 100 bar.
