Process and plant layout for drying and burning waste materials

The invention relates to a process and the associated plant layout for drying and burning waste materials, in particular sewage sludge, the waste materials being burned after mechanical and thermal dewatering and drying. According to the invention, this takes place by the thermally dried waste materials being milled and then burned in a pulsating manner in a reactor and by a part of the thermally dried waste materials with a gran size of < 1 mm being delivered back to the process as return material after the mechanical dewatering, and by the heat energy of the waste gases of the pulsating combustion being used as drying energy by indirect heat exchange.
