Zusammenfassung:A reactor core isolation cooling system (10) intrudes a reactor pressure vessel (12) containing a reactor core (14), a drywell vessel (20), a containment vessel (24), and an isolation pool (28) containing an isolation condenser (30). A turbine (40) is operatively joined to the pressure vessel outlet steamline (18) and powers a pump (48) operatively joined to the pressure vessel feedwater line (16). In operation, steam from the pressure vessel powers the turbine (48) which in turn powers the pump (48) to pump makeup water from a pool (52) to the feedwater line (16) into the pressure vessel (12) for maintaining water level over the reactor core. Steam discharged from the turbine (40) is channeled to the isoLation condenser (30) and is condensed therein. The resulting heat is discharged into the isolation pool (28) and vented (34) to the atmosphere outside the containment vessel (24) for removing heat therefrom.
