Zusammenfassung:A process for isolating a beta -lactam compound with about 100% enantiomeric purity, of the formula where R1 is CH3, t-C4H9, C6H5CH2O, C6H5, C6H5OCH2 or C6H5CH2; from a haloalkane solvent, comprising diluting the solution with methyl t-butyl ether or methanol to precipitate the product. The products thus obtained are key intermediates in the synthesis of antibiotic agents. The process is appropriiate for large scale production.
