Method and apparatus for separating a flow of bulk material into fractions of different grain size

A flow of bulk material is separated into fractions of different grain size, a material cushion (4) is built up as a material disperser (1) on a base (2) with a convexly arcuate throw-off edge (3) from the throw-off edge (3) at the escarpment angle of the material, the surface of which cushion forms a material dispersing surface (5), the trajectory parabola of the freely falling flow (7) of bulk material striking the material dispersing surface (5), a saddle-shaped divider (8) - consisting of a base (10) with a convexly arcuate front (11) and a concavely arcuate rear throw-off edge (12) and a material cushion (13) which is built up from the throw-off edges (11, 12) at the escarpment angle of the material with a comb (14) which runs parallel to the throw-off edges (11, 12) - being arranged in the freely falling, dispersed material flow (9) in such a way that a coarser fraction slides down to the convex throw-off edge (11) on the front side of the material cushion and is widened and thrown off and a finer fraction slides down towards the concave throw-off edge (12) on the rear side of the material cushion and is thrown off.
