Zusammenfassung: | A method is described for attachment of a transducer assembly (22-28) to the end of an insulated cable (10) which reduces fluid penetration from the transducer housing (26) into the insulation of the cable when the transducer is introduced into a fluid environment for the measurement of a parameter in that fluid, e.g. pressure, temperature etc. This is achieved by stripping back the insulation of the cable (10) to expose the electrical conductors (14) for connection to the electrical contacts (36) of the transducer, and injecting into the exposed end portion of the insulation which is exposed inside the transducer housing (26) and through the exposed end face of the stripped back insulation a curable sealant fluid, e.g. a curable silicone fluid, which gels in situ in the insulation at the end of the cable. Preferably the cable comprises a fibre reinforcement the exposed ends of which are physically attached to an anchor member (28) inside the housing (26) so that tensile forces on the cable are transmitted direct to the transducer housing (26) rather than via the electrical conductors (14) and the electrical contacts (36). |
