Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a combustion method, for example for refuse incinerators, wherein fuel is burned with addition of combustion air which essentially consists of oxygen-enriched ambient air. It is proposed to feed combustion air having an oxygen content increased over that of ambient air only in those phases of the combustion process in which essentially the total quantity of oxygen is consumed down to a residual quantity which can be preset as desired. The combustion air of increased oxygen content is thus introduced under control in accordance with the actual requirements of the combustion process.
