Zusammenfassung: | The process consists in passing a hot glass ribbon or sheet (1) through a direct electrical field established between electrodes to generate a corona discharge. The electrodes comprise an anode (4) arranged so as to cover the middle part of the ribbon and two cathodes (5) arranged so that each covers a side region of the ribbon, so as to displace the alkali metal and alkaline-earth metal ions into the depth and towards the side portions of the ribbon. A glass is obtained in which one face is free from alkali metal and possibly alkaline-earth metal ions at the surface and in which the nature of the other face is not modified. |
