The garment has comprises (a) a multi-layered outer shell (10) that has a vapor-permeable, liquid-impermeable sheet of poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (12) sandwiched between two fabrics (11,13) of knitted or woven yarns of crystalline poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide) staple fibers and (b) an insulating inner liner (30).
