Zusammenfassung:	In a method for rectifying a yarn break on a ring spinning machine, an auxiliary yarn carried by a service carriage is applied loosely to the cop of a spindle and pieced to a roving supplied by a drawing unit. After a failed attempt to rectify a yarn break, provision is made for ensuring that the service carriage removes the auxiliary yarn used in this attempt from the cop again.
