Zusammenfassung:	An apparatus and method capable of automated flow rate measurements of thermoplastic polymers which includes mechanisms for automatically loading a test polymer into a test cavity of a heating block and mechanisms for automatically cleaning the test cavity and a piston rod movable therein. The test cavity can be provided in the heating block or can be defined by a sleeve/die insert which also serves as a sample receiving cavity and which is movable into and out of a heating block for carrying out a rheological test of polymer material received in the sleeve/die insert.
