Head or foot support positioning device

The invention relates to a head or foot support (1), which can be reversed in an upper position, having a toothed rail (6) and a bearer (43), which are connected to one another in an articulated manner, and having a support strut (57), by means of which the head or foot support (1) can be fixed in a plurality of stepped catches. The joint ends of the toothed rail (6) have swivel openings with a slot, which are pushed over a flat swivel piece of a lower attachment element (27). The upper attachment element (35) has slip channels to rotary openings, through which bearing journals are passed to link ends of the bearer. The slide (59), as control element for the catch-free return of the head or foot support (1) to its starting position, is guided inside the U-shaped toothed rail in longitudinal beads which are also reinforcement beads.
