STREPTENOLS FROM STREPTOMYCETES, THEIR PREPARATION AND USE

It was possible to isolate novel streptenols having pharmacological action, in particular having inhibitory action on HMG-CoA reductase, from the nutrient solution of streptomycetes. The compounds can also be employed as synthesis building blocks for the preparation of mevilonin analogues.
