Generator and excitation system
A P-bar excitation system employs a generator (56) having means (58) for adjusting the voltage or the voltage and current available from the P-bars. The voltage and current are adjusted using paired P-bars (42 min , 62; 44 min , 64; 46 min , 66) per phase, wherein each pair of P-bars is connected in...

Zusammenfassung: | A P-bar excitation system employs a generator (56) having means (58) for adjusting the voltage or the voltage and current available from the P-bars. The voltage and current are adjusted using paired P-bars (42 min , 62; 44 min , 64; 46 min , 66) per phase, wherein each pair of P-bars is connected in series and are angularly displaced from each other about the inner circumference of the armature to attain a vector sum of voltages yielding the desired voltage per phase (Fig 5). Optionally, the generator magnetic flux or equivalently, the number of armature turns may be adjusted to yield the desired P-bar voltage and current. In one embodiment (Fig. 6) the direct output of the P-bars is connected directly to the rectifier and control circuit (20) for development of DC excitation power. This permits elimination of the excitation transformer (34) and overall simplification of the excitation system. |
