Zusammenfassung: | In a reciprocating piston internal-combustion engine comprising a double overhead camshaft cylinder head, the latter has combustion-chamber inlet and outlet valves arranged around a spark-plug well arranged in the cylinder axis, split bearings for the respective camshaft being provided between the obliquely suspended inlet and outlet valves. To obtain a combustion chamber for high output in combination with low consumption, with valve timing gear tailored to optimum gas exchange in combination with a cylinder head of narrow construction, it is proposed that a bearing cover common to the two camshaft bearings be secured via a projection bounding the well and that the cams of each camshaft on both sides of the bearing cover be of conical configuration, the cams, matched in their distance from one another to a small centre distance of the camshafts, acting on valves whose axes intersect at a point of intersection whose distance from the combustion chamber boundary on the cylinder head side is a multiple of the diameter of the cylinder bore. |
