In a shaft bearing, which is intended especially as a main bearing and connecting rod bearing for diesel engines, and which consists of a half shell with a lubricating oil supply provided through its shell body and a comparatively more heavily loaded half shell without a lubricating oil supply through its shell body, it is provided, in order to achieve an even wear of the bearing shells and of a shaft borne therein, that the shell body of the more lightly loaded half shell has through-openings for the lubricating oil supply extending directly up to the shaft, which openings are distributed preferably radially in two parallel rows, have an approximately triangular cross-section and engage on alternate sides deeply into a common overlapping region.
