Zusammenfassung:	An incipient outbreak of insulin dependent diabetes mellitus can be predicted by testing for the presence of antibodies against idiotypic antibodies which recognize the receptor binding sites of insulin (anti-DM-idiotypic antibodies) or the antibodies against the receptor binding sites of insulin (DM-idiotypic antibodies) in either the serum or urine of the patients to be tested. Monoclonal antibodies are preferably used in such a test. A kit containing such antibodies and conventional adjuvants may also be used.
