Zusammenfassung: | A novel human B-lymphotropic virus (HBLV) associated with some malignancies in acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) and non-AIDS patients is isolated. The virus is detected in a patient suffering from AIDS by co-culturing sera from an AIDS patient with human B cells and examining for presence of the virus by sucrose gradient analysis or by Southern blot analysis of the virus genomic DNA. Analysis of virus infected cells can be carried out by producing large cytoplasmic infected cells and examining for membrane fluoresence. The virus is morphologically similar to viruses of the herpesvirus family but is readily distinguished from the known human and nonhuman primate herpesviruses by host range, in vitro biological effects, and antigenic features. |
