Zusammenfassung: | The modulator for an optical communications system uses an interferometer with an acousto-optical modulator (13,24) in each interferometer path and 90 degrees phase shift between the light beams for the 2 paths. Each of the acousto-optical modulators (13,24) is controlled by an amplitude-modulated HF signal with the envelope curve providing the signal for modulation of the light carrier. The upper and lower side bands are obtained separately at the output of the interferometer. Pref. a common HF generator (32) is coupled to each acousto-optical modulator (13,24) via a respective amplitude modulator (31,33), with a 90 degree phase-shifter (34) in front of one of the latter. |
