Insulated switch assembly

The bipolar double throw electrical sWitch (18) has a threaded neck (82) through which extends the activating puhs-pole (84). The switch housing (14) has a moulded base plate (85) with a central aperture (86) for passage of cable (88) for fixing to contacts (80). A compression cap (92), thrust washer (94) and rubber frustum (96) act together to form a water-tight seal about the wires of the cable. Depression of push button (26) moves a guard (52) downwards to cause the underside of a receptacle (56) to engage a flexible diaphragm (72) which is dpresssed to activate the push pole (84). Water leaking into the assembly through an aperture (22) is trapped by the guard and directed to the internal sides of the housing body. It runs down the body and out through drain holes (50).
