Zusammenfassung:1. A method of fitting units, more particularly an engine, front axle, drive train and rear axle, to a motor vehicle body from the underside, in which the units rest on a movable unit-mounting carrier and the bodies are delivered by suspension conveyors to an assembly station in which the units are fitted to the body, characterised in that the body is held and its position is scanned in the assembly station, the units on the unit-mounting carrier are then aligned in accordance with the detected position of the body and held in the aligned position, and the unit-mounting carrier is then lifted towards the suspended body.
