MANUFACTURING METHOD OF A METALLIC JACKET FOR AN ELECTRIC CABLE EXTERNALLY HAVING AN ANGULAR AND INTERNALLY A ROUNDED OUTLINE

Method for manufacturing a pressure-resistant, internally round, metallic jacket with an external square or hexagonal contour and rounded corners around an electrical cable, which is endless in the technical sense, such as, for example, a steel jacket for an internally cooled, super-conducting cable with a high internal pressure and a square or hexagonal external shape, which can be wound into a coil in a densely packed manner. Manufacture is carried out by shaping a flat or humped profile 13 by means of pairs of profile rollers 22 and 23, whose profile shape is matched in accordance with the required internal and external geometry to half a tube. In this way, a U-profile 14 is produced from the humped profile 13, which is then placed in pairs around the round, for example super-conducting, electrical cable and is welded on the contact surfaces of its limbs into a uniform jacket.
