Manufacture is carried out by shaping a flat or humped profile 13 by means of pairs of profile rollers 22 and 23, whose profile shape is matched in accordance with the required internal and external geometry to half a tube. In this way, a U-profile 14 is produced from the humped profile 13, which is then placed in pairs around the round, for example super-conducting, electrical cable and is welded on the contact surfaces of its limbs into a uniform jacket.
