Zusammenfassung:Known display units embody a control device having a picture memory (BSP1) with picture data stored in its cells, each of which is assigned to a picture element and is read out synchronously with the display of the picture elements on the display unit (SG). According to the present invention, to display a plurality of pictures which partly overlap, picture data are only entered in the picture memory (BSP1) for those picture elements which are to be visible. For this purpose, write-protection signals can be stored in the cells of the picture memory (BSP1). These protection signals are read out in the event of a writing command and prevent new picture data being written in. The main field of application of the invention is in display units.
