PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF 5,6-DIHYDRO-PYRROLO-Û2,1-A¨ISOQUINOLINES

The invention relates to 5,6-dihydro-pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines of the formula (I) wherein R, R2, R3, and R7, which may be identical or different, each represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R1 represents a cyano, hydroxycarbonyl, or alkoxycarbonyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a primary or secondary, substituted or unsubstituted, aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic, aromatic, or heterocyclic aminocarbonyl group; R4 and R8, which may be identical or different, each represent a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy or alkylthio group having up to 4 carbon atoms, or an NR9R10 group; R5 and R6, which may be identical or different, each represent a hydroxy atom or an alkoxy or alkylthio group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or together represent an -O-CH2-O-, -O-CH2-CH2-O-, or -O-CH=CH-O group; R9 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and R10 represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms optionally substituted by a hydroxyl, methoxy, or furfuryl group.
