Zusammenfassung:	1. Working cylinder having a pressure-charged piston, which is guided in a cylinder tube (10) and has a piston rod (25), and having a brake device (24) for the piston rod (25), which brake device (24) is arranged at the end of the cylinder tube (10) in an attachment, characterized by the combination of the following features : a) at least one guide rod (18, 18') running parallel to the cylinder tube is mounted in sliding manner on a housing part (12) arranged on the cylinder tube (10), which guide rod (18, 18') is firmly connected to the piston rod (25) ; b) a coding device (20) of any type for an electric displacement sensor (21) for the piston rod position is arranged on the guide rod (18), which coding device (20) runs in the longitudinal direction of the latter ; c) the guide rod (18) is connected with slight axial and radial play to the piston rod (25) via a compensating coupling (39) in order to keep the movement effects of the brake device (24) on the piston rod (25) away from the guide rod (18, 18').
