Extraction zone for liquid-liquid contacting

An improved cascade weir type extraction zone (10) is described in which at least one of the weir means (38,48, 58) is disposed above the respective associated tray (30, 40, 50). This improved extraction zone (10) is of particular utility in lube oil processing operations.
