Zusammenfassung:Novel carbinol containing, anhydride terminated polyimides are prepared by reacting selected carbinol-containing tetracarboxylic acid compounds (e.g. bis(methyl half-ester) of 3,3 min ,4,4 min -benzhydroltetracarboxylic acid) with polyfunctional polyamines (e.g. 4,4 min -methylenedianiline, 1,6-hexanediamine, etc.). The polyimides may be crosslinked at low temperatures via a ring opening reaction between the carbinol and anhydride group(s).
