Zusammenfassung:	An electric hotplate has a hotplate body in the form of a thin ceramic substrate, to whose bottom surface is applied, e.g. by printing, a thin resistive material film. This resistive material film is covered by a protective coating, which prevents damage. Between the protective coating and the bottom tray of the hotplate is provided a thermal insulating layer. The hotplate has an extremely low thermal capacity, so that rapid preliminary cooking or boiling is possible with low power consumption.
