Zusammenfassung:Disclosed are the compounds wherein a) R is hydrogen or a protecting group, R is hydrogen and R is -CH2I, b) R is a protecting group, R is R and is -CH2C(SR)3 wherein R is selected from lower alkyl having 1-6 carbon atoms, aryl and aralkyl having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, and wherein R can be the same or different, c) R is hydrogen, R is and R is -CH2-@-CH2-CO2R wherein R is a protecting group, d) R is hydrogen, R is wherein R is a protecting group which are intermediates for the total synthesis of thienamycin. Further disclosed is the process for preparing such compounds.
