ARYL SULFONYLUREA CARBAMATES AND THIOLCARBAMATES AND SALTS THEREOF: HERBICIDAL ANTIDOTES

1-Arylsulphonyl- 3-alkoxycarbonylurea derivs. and analogues of formula (I) and their salts with inorganic bases such as the Na, K and NH4 salts, and their aniline, p-toluidine, benzylamine, mono-, di- and triallylamine, mono-, di- and tri-alkylamine, tetra-alkylammonium, ethylaminoethyl, mono-, di- and tri-alkanolamine, quinoline, isoquinoline, ethylenediamine, benzyltrialkylammonium, choline, hydrazine, N,N-dialkylhydrazine, morpholine and tribenzylamine salts are new. (R)n-Ar-SO2-NR2-CO-NR4-CO-XR1 (I) (X is O or S; n is 0-3; R is halogen, CF3, CN, NO2, 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio, or lower alkylsulphonyl; R4 is H, 1-4C alkyl, 2-6C alkoxyalkyl, Ph or chlorophenyl; R2 is H, 1-4C alkyl, 2-6C alkoxyalkyl or Ph; R1 is 1-4C alkyl, 3-6C alkenyl, 3-6C alkynyl, 1-4C haloalkyl, 2-6C alkoxyalkyl, 1-phenylpropenyl, benzyl, chlorobenzyl, 3-6C haloalkenyl, or Ph opt. substd. by 1-4C alkyl; and Ar is Ph, benzyl, naphthyl, pyridinyl or styryl). (I) are antidotes for protecting crop plants, esp. soyabean crops, against injury by thiolcarbamate, thiolcarbamate sulphoxide and haloacetanilide type herbicides, and the tolerance of crop plants to these herbicides can be increased by appln. of (I) to the soil. Applied at 0.01-30 pts. per 1 pt. of herbicide. -
