Shaft furnace (10) having a vertically oriented shaft, - which has in its lower part at least one outlet (13) of an air blast pipe (14), through which combustion air from below as under-grate blast is pressed into the shaft, and - in which oxygen-enriched combustion air is fed, characterized in that the combustion air is fed exclusively as under-grate blast through the air blast pipe (14) and in that an inlet pipe (16) delivering oxygen ends in the air blast pipe (14) downstream of the putlet (13).
