Ion mobility detector having an ion accelerator comprised of ceramic tubes (12a, 14a) coated inside with thick film resistor composition (30, 34) across which a voltage potential difference (32a,36a) is impressed to provide an ion accelerating electrical field gradient within the tubes (12a, 14a).
