1359854 Playback of video signals TED BILDPLATTEN AG AEG-TELEFUNKENTELDEC 5 May 1971 [13 May 1970] 13240/71 Heading G5R [Also in Division H4] In a record playback system in which signals, e.g. frequency modulated video signals, are recorded as deformations in the surface of grooves in a resilient record carrier and played back by a pressure pick-up which responds to reaction pressure from the deformations as these are depressed by the pick-up, the record engaging part of the pick-up extends over more than the largest wavelength in the groove and a low pass filter is connected in series with the pick-up output. The record engaging part of the pick-up can be a skid 3 of sapphire or diamond secured to the piezo electric transducer 1 and having a leading edge with a radius of curvature of five or more times the maximum recorded wavelength and a trailing edge having a radius of curvature of half the minimum recorded wavelength. The low pass filter 10 helps to remove the harmonic contact of the signal and the quality is further improved by passing it through a differentiator or high pass filter before demodulation. The capacitive element of the differentiator or high pass filter can be provided by the transducer.
