Zusammenfassung: | 1484347 Buoyancy control B L BUCKLE 30 Sept 1975 [30 Sept 1974] 42378/74 Heading B7M In a buoyancy control system 1 for a diver a reservoir comprising a length of coiled or serpentine tubing 8, has gas inlet 30 and outlet valves 19 and water inlet 27 and outlet valves 18. The system 1 is in the form of a backpack having arms 3, containing the ends of tubing 8 and meeting at a manual control 4, the pack including a pair of compressed air cylinders (11), Fig. 3 (not shown) connected via a pressure reducer (33) and line 32 to gas inlet valve 30. Depression of button 27 unseats a valve disc (29) from a plurality of holes (8b), Fig. 6 (not shown), in the wall of chamber 8a which communicates with tubing 8, thus admitting ambient water, and through spindle 26 operates valve 23 to connect pipe 22 via pipe 24 to the air cylinders thus opening gas outlet valves 19. Release of button 27 closes holes (8b) and vents pipe 22, thus closing valves 19. Operation of valve 30 introduces air at approximately 200 psig via pipes 35, the presure build-up opening water discharge valves 18. A second gas inlet valve 31 is linked directly via line 36 to the air cylinders so that air at approximately 3000 psig may be introduced into tubing 8 in an emergency. The air cylinders may also feed a breathing mask. |
