An aerosol-generating system and a holder device. The aerosol-generating system comprises the holder device which comprises a tail end and a cigarette insertion hole and is used for heating a cigarette to generate aerosol; and a bracket device including an internal space, the bracket device and the holder device being tilted together, the holder device and the bracket device including a coupling member that improves coupling strength, the bracket device including a terminal that supplies electric power, the holder device being tilted between a first position where the cigarette insertion holeis blocked and a second position where the cigarette insertion hole is exposed, even in the second position, the holder device and the bracket device being coupled to each other. The holder device isalso coupled to the carriage device such that power is supplied from a terminal of the carriage device to the holder device, the holder device being configured to: monitor a smoking mode when a cigarette is inserted into the holder device and heating is started after the holder device is separated from the carriage device in a roll state; judging whether the smoking mode meets smoking limiting conditions or not; when the condition is satisfied, the heater is controlled to interrupt heating of the inserted cigarette.
