Zusammenfassung:	There is described a controller device configured to control an operation of a transport refrigeration unit, wherein the controller device is configured to operate the compressor of the transport refrigeration unit to have a variable refrigeration capacity, wherein when a temperature setpoint inside a transport unit is reached, the controller device is configured to set an operating mode of the compressor to a continuously-variable speed mode, wherein the controller device: determines whether the temperature inside the transport unit is drifting away from the temperature setpoint, determines a direction of temperature drift from the temperature setpoint, and when the temperature inside the transport unit is drifting away from the temperature setpoint, controls operation of an electronic throttling valve (ETV) or a compressor speed for modulating a variable refrigeration capacity; and when the controller device determines that the temperature inside the transport unit exceeds a modulation control band range, the controller device is configured to set the operating mode of the compressor to a start-stop operating mode. There is also described a corresponding method and transport refrigeration unit.
