Zusammenfassung:The present invention relates to a heat energy recovery device capable of suppressing a rapid increase of thermal stress generated in an evaporator at the time of starting an operation, and an operating method thereof. The heat energy recovery device comprises: an evaporator (10); a preheater (12); an energy recovery unit (13); a circulation flow path (22); a pump (20); a heating medium flow path (30) which supplies a heating medium to the evaporator (10) and the preheater (12); a flow rate adjustment unit (40) which is installed farther upstream side than the evaporator (10) on the heating medium flow path (30); and a control unit (50), wherein the control unit (50) controls the flow rate adjustment unit (40) to gradually increase inflow of a vapor-phase heating medium to the evaporator (10) in a state where the pump (20) is stopped, until the temperature of the evaporator (10) reaches a specified value.
